New Delhi | Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated, that India must rise above a reactive mindset and embrace a forward-looking strategy to remain ready for the future, in an era, marked by rapid global shifts and evolving geopolitical challenges. He delivered this message during his address at Swavlamban 2025, the Navy’s premier event focused on innovation and indigenous development, held at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.
Singh noted that the country is stepping into, what he described as a promising phase for defence innovation. He emphasised the need for the defence ecosystem to expand with greater ambition, speed, and scale. He encouraged private companies to pursue a profit-plus mindset, advising them to consider national priorities and the desire to contribute to the country alongside traditional business gains.
According to the minister, the progress of innovators directly strengthens India’s security and advances the nation’s goal of self-reliance in defence. The event was attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, senior military officials, DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat, as well as several specialists and innovators from the defence sector.
Prior to his speech, Singh visited the exhibition area and interacted with participants showcasing their work. Since its inception in 2022, the Swavlamban event has evolved into a national forum where startups and MSMEs present solutions created in response to challenges outlined by the armed forces to meet operational needs.
