A horrific accident on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway in Pune claimed six lives when a car was trapped between two massive container trucks that later caught fire. The incident occurred on Navale Bridge on Thursday evening and also left more than ten people injured, according to police reports.
Brake Failure Suspected as Cause
Preliminary findings suggest that one of the container trucks heading toward Mumbai lost control due to a possible brake malfunction. The heavy vehicle collided with another container truck in front of it, crushing a car that was traveling between the two trucks, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam.
Massive Fire Erupts After Collision
The impact triggered a major fire, engulfing all the vehicles involved. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and worked to recover bodies from the wreckage while the injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Ongoing Rescue Operations
Authorities are continuing efforts to clear the damaged vehicles and ensure the safety of commuters in the area. The tragic crash has once again highlighted the dangers of heavy vehicle brake failures on steep highway stretches like Navale Bridge.
