AIIMS doctors advised on Saturday that the COVID-19 patients that are on home care should not take Remdesivir medication and should be admitted to hospitals as soon as the oxygen level drops below 94. The doctors were addressing a webinar on ‘Medication and Care in Home Isolation’ for COVID-19 patients.
Dr. Neeraj Nischal of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said,”Remdesivir should never be taken at home. Positive attitude and regular exercise are a must for patients in home isolation”.
Dr. Manish, who is also from AIIMS, said that the patient should immediately be admitted as soon as their oxygen level goes below 94. He also added that while checking the oxygen level, the patient’s age and other chronic diseases should also be kept in mind. The doctors also advised that the medications must be taken in the proper quantity and at the right time.
Dr. Neeraj said,”Knowing about the medicine is not enough. Patients should also know how and when they are to be taken, only then would it prove to be beneficial”.
