In the first six days of the conflict, about 6,000 Russians had died, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. This comes in the wake of reports of Russian aerial forces arriving in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s 2nd largest city, and the Russian military claims to have gotten hold of Kherson, in the country’s south.
In the meantime, the administration announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “spoke to the leading figures of Russia, Ukraine, Romania, the Slovak Republic, and Poland concerning the protection and cooperation of the rescue operation of Indians from Ukraine,” and that all steps are being taken to return 40 percent of Indians trapped in the conflicted region.
According to the authorities, 30 percent percent of its total 20,000 Indians in Ukraine already have returned to India, while another 30 percent are in nearby countries.
