The demand for corona vaccine has been increasing due to the covid upsurge in recent times.

The World Health Organization has provided approval to China’s new vaccine called Sinovac-Coronavac covid19 vaccine made by a chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac for emergency use. This is the second chinese vaccine to be given approval by WHO.  WHO has assured that the vaccine meets its international standards for safety, efficacy , and manufacturing.

The Sinovac-Corona Vac vaccine is an inactivated vaccine and doesn’t require very cold temperatures for its storage , so it’s easily manageable. This vaccine is managed under the WHO’s COVAX program hoping that Sinovac approval will boost supplies for this global vaccine sharing program.

According to the efficacy studies , Sinovac prevented symptomatics diseases in just over half of those vaccinated and prevented severe covid-19 and hospitalization in 100% of those studies , the WHO stated in its statement. Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) has suggested that people over the age of 18 can take this vaccine and two doses should be spaced between two and four weeks.

“The world desperately needs multiple Covid-19 vaccines to address the huge access inequity across the globe”, Mariangelo Simao , WHO assistant – director general said in a statement .
