Some news channels have quoted satellite images claiming that China has established a village with pucca houses in Arunachal Pradesh under India’s control areas.
The Foreign Ministry of India says that they are keeping an eye on these news stories.
The village, which is being talked about in the media, is located on the banks of ‘Saari Chu’ river in Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. Experts believe that this area has also been witness to very violent clashes between the army of India and China.
Planet Labs, the largest company to operate the satellite, has released two pictures taken from the satellite to compare this area.
A picture is being told of August 2019, in which there is no construction of any kind, while the second picture is of November last year, which shows many pucca houses and roads.
India’s Foreign Ministry has said in its statement that China has been working for the past few years near the LAC adjacent to Arunachal Pradesh. In a statement released on Monday, the ministry says that India is also accelerating the work of building bridges, roads and infrastructure along the border, which will help the local people living near the border.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s Arunachal Pradesh MP Tapir Gao has been raising questions for the past several years accusing China of infiltrating Parliament and outside Parliament.
He first raised this matter in Parliament on September 2019 and then in November. Both times the government denied the allegations of infiltration by China.
This time too, he has expressed his concern about the settlement of China’s villages. The BBC tried to contact him, but he was not available to give his response.
However, while talking to the news agency ANI, he has said that China has occupied many parts of Arunachal Pradesh since the year 1980, where it has also done construction work. Tapir Gao alleges that China has also constructed an airstrip between ‘Bisa’ and ‘Mazah’ located on the Indian side within the McMahon Line.
While talking to the agency, he also alleged that while Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister, China had captured the ‘Sumdorong Valley’ of Tawang, which the Indian Army wanted to retaliate to regain. But they allege that the then government did not allow the army.
Amidst this controversy, the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India says that the government is monitoring every activity happening on the LAC and taking every step to maintain the unity and sovereignty of the country.
