The Rajasthan government announced the ‘Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme’ in the budget of 2020-21.  In this, all the families of the state will get cashless health insurance up to five lakh rupees.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted that Rajasthan has become the first state in the country where every family will get health insurance of five lakh rupees per year.  But BJP is accusing the state government of doing politics by calling Ayushman Bharat Yojana the biggest scheme of the country.
BJP state president Satish Poonia said, “Ayushman Bharat Yojana is the biggest scheme in the country. Ashok Gehlot does not want Narendra Modi’s plan to reach the people, hence changing the name of the schemes to politics. Ashok Gehlot is giving benefits to one crore people.  Talking, if he wanted to give benefits, then Ayushman would have given it from Bharat Yojana itself. “
State Health Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma has also said that this scheme is different from earlier schemes.
He said, “In the earlier health insurance scheme, eligible beneficiaries of National Food Security Act and Socio Economic Census were getting the benefit of the scheme. But in the new Chiranjeevi scheme, all families will get cashless benefit of health insurance.”
What is required for registration?
To take advantage of the scheme, first registration has to be done.  For this, the family’s Janadhar Card, Janadhar Card Registration Receipt and Aadhar Card will be necessary.  This document can only be linked to the plan.
Who does not need to register?
There is no need to register the eligible families of the National Food Security Act and Socio Economic Census 2011, benefitted from the Ayushman Bharat Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Health Insurance Scheme.
It will be mandatory for all others to register to take advantage of this scheme.
 Who can avail the scheme?
Under the scheme, eligible families under the Food Security Act, eligible families of Socio Economic Census 2011, contract workers, small and marginal farmers working in all departments of the state can become beneficiaries of this insurance scheme without paying any fees.
Families who are not included in these four categories, but are not eligible under the Mediclaim / Medical Attendance Rules of the Central and State Government, can join the scheme by paying fifty percent of the premium i.e. Rs 850.
 Family number and age limit?
Generally the age limit for joining any insurance scheme also matters somewhere.  But Chiranjeevi Yojana is an insurance scheme for the whole family, in such a large family can also easily join it.
There is no restriction on the number of family members in this scheme.
There will also be no age limit for the family members.  From the child born to the elderly, all will be the beneficiaries of the scheme.
How much is insurance and will there be cashless treatment?
Before joining insurance benefits from May 1, even if someone is suffering from any disease, he will still be able to take benefits under this scheme.
Under the scheme, an insurance cover of Rs 50 thousand will be given for the identified diseases and 4 lakh 50 thousand for serious diseases.
Apart from this, 1,576 packages of various diseases have been included.
The list of which diseases will get insurance coverage has not been made public at the moment.
How is Ayushman Chiranjeevi scheme different from India?
Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme of the Central Government, only the economically weaker sections can avail health care.  Also, there is insurance up to three lakh rupees annually.
At the same time, under the Chiranjeevi Yojana of Rajasthan Government, every family is being given insurance of five lakh rupees, which includes all the families and all the income groups of the state.
 Which hospitals will get benefits?
After joining the scheme, all government hospitals and allied private hospitals in the state will get the benefit of cashless insurance.
However, the list of hospitals has not been released yet.
Under the scheme, medical expenses, tests, medicines and expenses up to fifteen days after discharge of the patient up to five days before the hospitalization are also covered.
Which families will have to pay premium?
The benefit of Chiranjeevi scheme will be available to the contract workers, small and marginal farmers of the state.
Also, 50% of the insurance premium will be available to all other families of the state i.e. free medical facility up to Rs 5 lakh per annum at Rs 850. “
As soon as the registration for the scheme started, all the district collectors have formed committees to oversee the preparations at the block level and the gram panchayat level.
