Beginning with the current academic year, a private college in Utah will provide a whole class on pornography, in which students would “view pornographic videos together” as subjects in the curriculum. Students will “view pornographic films together” and analyze the sexual objectification of ethnicity, gender, and religion as an exploratory, unconventional art form, as per the course materials posted on Westminster College’s official website under the title “FILM 2000: Porn.”
The institution further explains the choice in the course specifics, noting that sexual content is not a new phenomenon in America. The institution’s response to this leading industry is both cultural phenomenon that mirror and maintains sexual inequality and an art form that deserves serious thought, according to the course specifications.
