The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam on Thursday authorised its founder Vijay to take the final call on electoral alliances and also declared him the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the Assembly election scheduled for next year. The party stated that a special committee will be created to negotiate any electoral pact, but confirmed that the ultimate decision on alliances will rest with Vijay.

A resolution passed at the party’s meeting in Chennai said that the ruling DMK must be removed and a prosperous new Tamil Nadu must be built.
It added that the party accepts Vijay as its chief ministerial candidate and will welcome into its alliance those who are ready to acknowledge his leadership.
The resolution also emphasised that Vijay has been fully empowered to make final decisions regarding alliances.Another resolution noted that a manifesto committee will be formed to design a roadmap aimed at safeguarding the people of Tamil Nadu and guiding the state toward meaningful change.
