According to Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, the party will march from Punjab’s Mohali to Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday in protest of reported farmer deaths there. According to a statement sent by Mr. Sidhu’s office, he will lead the march.
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel have each given a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the families of four farmers killed in the Lakhimpur incident. Meanwhile, a five-member Congress delegation led by Rahul Gandhi departed Lucknow airport on Wednesday for violence-plagued Lakhimpur Kheri.
