The Pro-Khalistan organization, Sikh for Justice (SFJ) claimed responsibility for the RPG attack on Punjab Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali on Monday night. SFJ general counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannu claimed involvement in a suspected phone message to Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. Pannu also claimed credit for hoisting Khalistani flags at the Dharamshala assembly complex in the audio mail.

Pannu further demanded that CM Thakur hold the referendum 20-20 on June 6, 2022, the day of the Himachal election, or face the consequences. He said Himachal should learn from the grenade attack in Mohali because it might have hit Shimla’s headquarters as well. The veracity of the audio message is being verified by Punjab Police, who have yet to state the matter.
