Authorities say at least 16 people have been injured in the subway in Brooklyn on the Tuesday morning commute, 10 of them by gunshot, when a man discharged a flare of smoke and began firing on an N train. According to Police Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell, the guy, who was carrying a work vest, put on a protective mask before firing rounds that injured persons on the train and the adjoining platform at roughly 8:24 a.m. as the train rolled into the 36th Street Station in the Sunset Park area.
Five people were in critically injured, according to the Fire Department, although none of them had sustained life-threatening wounds. As New York City battles to recuperate from the epidemic, the violent incident occurred amid an increased fear of criminality.
