Rahul Gandhi takes aim at the government over Chinese advances in Ladakh and Uttarakhand

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, slammed the government over suspected Chinese incursions in Ladakh and Uttarakhand on Sunday. He also mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 56-inch chest boast, which he made at rallies during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

“China plus Pakistan plus ‘Mr 56 inch’ is equal to Increasing Chinese occupation of India’s land,” he said in a tweet in Hindi, while referring to Ladakh and Uttarakhand.

On August 30, around 100 Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Uttarakhand’s Barahoti sector. According to those familiar with the situation, the Chinese troops left the region after only a few hours.
