Quad countries include India, Australia, Japan, and the United States. The conference, held digitally, will include Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga, Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison and President of the United States Joe Biden.
The Foreign Ministry said that in this conference, quad leaders would discuss regional and global issues of common interest. Shares ideas on practical areas of cooperation to create a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the conference along with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihida Suga and President of the United States, Joe Biden,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The first Summit of Leaders under the Quad Framework will be held digitally on 12 March.
The four quad member countries have pledged to maintain a rules-based international system in the Indo-Pacific region. The emerging situation in the Indo-Pacific region has become a major issue among major global powers in view of increasing China’s military power. The US is in favor of making the Quad a security framework to curb China.
