President Kovind pays tribute to Kargil War heros at Drass Memorial

President Ran Nath Kovind visited Drass in Ladakh and paid tribute to Kargil war heroes at the Kargil War memorial. A statement by Rashtrapati Bhawan has confirmed that the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat during the time.

The official report stated that the president is on a four-day visit to the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. He spent the night at  Srinagar and is set to fly to Drass this morning to pay tributes to the Kargil War heroes. The president will also address the 19th annual convocation of the University of Kashmir in Srinagar.

India celebrates 26th July as Kargil Vijay Diwas to mark the anniversary of the Indian Army’s victory against Pakistan on this day in 1999. Indian arm force defeated Pakistan on this day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has requested all fellow Indians to salute the brave hearts who made the nation proud in 1999. Yesterday, on his show Mann Ki Baat the Modi said, “It is only natural to be filled with emotions in respect for the one who raises the tricolour for the country. This feeling of patriotism unites us all,”
