According to the India Meteorological Department, significant rain is expected in Mumbai during the next three days. Heavy rains were anticipated to begin on Sunday, climax on Tuesday, and linger periodically for the remainder of the week.
The IMD forecasts overcast skies with medium rain/thundershowers throughout the urban core. There is also a chance of heavy to very heavy rain in remote areas.
Earlier, forecasters expected that rainfall would begin on Saturday, but this has been delayed owing to the creation of an east-west shear zone (an region packed with conflicting winds) over the north Konkan coast.
