NASSCOM, India’s main information technology (IT) lobby, and Bank of America analysts are arguing about how many jobs would be lost in the industry this year. Whether it’s half or three million, ‘low skilled’ IT positions are under danger of robotics – and CEOs are aware of this.
According to Bank of America, robot process automation would result in a 30% loss in ‘low-skilled employment globally by 2022 for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, HCL Tech, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, and others (RPA).
According to the global financial services firm, around 9 million individuals are engaged in similar jobs in India, which implies that 3 million — one-third of the total — would be jobless by the end of the year.
