The Covid tally is here. There has been a spike of 37,148 cases and 587 deaths reported in India in the last 24 hours. Total COVID-19 positive cases stand at 11,55,191 including 4,02,529 active cases, 7,24,578 cured/discharged/migrated and 28084 deaths: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The ICMR has said that 1,43,81,303 samples were tested for the virus up to 20th July. Of these 3,33,395 were tested yesterday.

Globally, 14,703,293 people have been infected, 609,887 have died and 8,290,431 have recovered so far.

The Health Ministry and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have suggested a set of short-term and medium-term actions for state governments to enhance the country’s COVID 19 testing capacity.

Meanwhile, the Centre has written to all states and union territories warning against the use of N-95 masks with valved respirators by people, saying these do not prevent the virus from spreading out and are “detrimental” to the measures adopted for its containment.
