According to sources, India has evacuated about 50 diplomats and security staff from its consulate in Kandahar, Afghanistan, due to the bad security environment and the Taliban seizing control of additional regions around the south Afghan city.
According to sources, an Indian Air Force special aircraft was dispatched on Saturday (July 10) to bring back Indian ambassadors, officials, and other staff people, including a contingent of Indo-Tibetan Border Police officers.
The decision by India to temporarily close the consulate in Kandahar was made in response to Taliban fighters swiftly gaining control of a number of critical regions in the region as well as in western Afghanistan, causing major security issues.
