India has registered 46,759 new Covid-19 infections which is the highest in nearly two months. Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare report showed that the new infections took the nationwide tally to 32,649,947. The death toll now stands at 437,370 with 509 fatalities in the last 24 hours. The ministry further informed that this is the third consecutive day that India is seeing more than 40,000 daily Covid-19 cases.
However, Kerala and Maharashtra is rating top in the daily number of infections. Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan suggested both these states consider night curfews in areas with high infection numbers. The states have registered 32,801 and 14,876 respectively.
An official report stated that 17,61,110 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Friday, taking the total number of tests conducted so far to 51,68,87,602.
Meanwhile, on the vaccination front, the country has operated more than 10 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in a single day across the nation. Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle and wrote “Record vaccination numbers today! Crossing 1 crore is a momentous feat. Kudos to those getting vaccinated and those making the vaccination drive a success,”
