A major fire broke out inside a four-storey commercial building at the Lajpat Nagar Central Market in South Delhi on Saturday. 30 fire tenders and more than 70 firefighters worked for over three hours to douse the fire and bring the situation under control.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire and however , properties worth crores turned into ashes. “ This building had Amba Crockery in the basement and on the upper floors it had brands like van Heusen, raymond along with Batla Handlooms. The fire started from the lower floor and soon spread to the higher floors,” said Bhaushan Arora , an eyewitness who has a shop just a few meters away from the building which caught fire.
An investigation has been initiated by fire brigade officials to understand the cause of the fire.
Reportedly, the fire accident is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit at the clothing showroom.
