According to media reports, a former top writer for Hong Kong’s now-defunct pro-democracy daily Apple Daily was freed from jail on Tuesday, two days after being seized at the airport.
FungWai-kong 57, has become the latest individual from the media organisation to be sought following a raid on the newspaper by 500 cops over two weeks ago and the detention of five executives, two of whom have been prosecuted under a wide new national security statute.
Fung is the seventh member of the media firm to be detained in recent weeks, heightening worries over freedom o press in the former British colony that reverted to Chinese control in 1997.
