On 29 March 2014, at an election rally held at Panch Mile in Assam’s Tezpur, Himanta Biswa Sarma said in his speech, “You (Narendra Modi) said that a Maruti car can run inside a water pipe in Gujarat. Yes,  You tell the truth to the people of Assam that water flows through the water pipes in Assam. The blood of Muslims flows through the water pipes in Gujarat. “
Himant Biswa Sarma said this for Narendra Modi, who was made the Prime Ministerial candidate in BJP at that time.  During that time Himant was a prominent leader of the Assam Pradesh Congress and a strong minister.
Therefore, many top BJP leaders were angry with Himant and warned him that if the government changes in Delhi, then all the cases of corruption charges can be investigated against him.
But it is said that whatever is said in front of the public in politics, it does not take long to change that.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won a big victory under the leadership of Narendra Modi, and just 15 months later, on 28 August 2015, Himant Biswa Sarma left the Congress and joined the BJP.
