Experts praised the ceasefire agreement, as well as warned against cross-border terror

Terming the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan as a “right step”, the experts welcomed it. However, he also warned against terrorist infiltration from across the border.Experts said, the army needs to be vigilant to prevent terrorism coming from the neighboring country. The army was also told on Thursday that this agreement would not have any effect on its preparedness and vigil to prevent infiltration on the international border.Lt Gen Retired Satish Dua said, the ceasefire is welcome and the shared statement on it is special in itself because it is usually less so. The agreement took place in early summer, with intrusions increasing during this season. Each time there is an increase in cross-border firing and infiltration in the summer. Therefore, the agreement on the ceasefire before the summer starts is positive in many ways. Dua said, this agreement is important from three aspects. First, in August 2019, after the removal of Article 370, there was increased cross-border firing. Second, diplomatic relations were affected after the withdrawal of the High Commissioners from both countries, and the third was India’s refusal to negotiate with Pakistan until it ceased supporting terrorism. There will be positive signs of the agreement regarding the cease-fire between these three conditions.
