Covid-19: India logs 11,850 new cases; daily toll tops 500 for 2nd straight day

For the second day in a row, India saw over 500 additional coronavirus disease (Covid-19)-related deaths, with 555 more people succumbing to the infection, bringing the total to 463,245, according to the Union ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW).

 

The country also gained 11,850 new illnesses, down more than 5% from yesterday, bringing the total case count to 34,426,036, according to the ministry’s daily bulletin. Kerala alone recorded 6674 infections and 471 deaths (59 new+412 backlogs) among the new cases and deaths. As a result, the southern state was responsible for more than 56% and 86% of the most recent daily infections and deaths, respectively.
