On Wednesday, due to technical problems, Japan’s Covid-19 vaccine booking system crashed down, compounding frustration over the government’s handling of new outbreak’s of infections and an inoculation drive that critics say has been woefully slow.
This online booking system crashed in various cities of the country including Tokyo and the western cities of Minoh because of a global problem with US cloud computing vendor Salesforce.com Inc.
Only 2.8% of the Japanese population has been vaccinated, the lowest rate among the wealthy countries despite an ambitious government target of giving shots to its 36 million elderly people by July, when the Olympics games are due to open in Tokyo.
