Coronavirus cases rise to 1,154 in Delhi, 815 in Rajasthan; crosses 9000 pan India

Covid-19 positive cases have exceeded the 9,000-mark in India. According to latest update by Union Health Ministry, the total number of coronavirus cases reached 9,152 on Monday, April 13.

The number of deaths has reached to 308, including 35 deaths in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan, Kerala, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh are some of the worst affected states by the coronavirus infection. Maharashtra, Punjab, West Bengal and Odisha have extended the lockdown till April 30.

The Central Government is likely to make a formal announcement regarding extending the lockdown, which was scheduled to end on April 14, soon.

In a video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, April 11, most of the chief ministers are in favor extending the nationwide lockdown, which is scheduled to end on April 14, for two more weeks.

Soon after the meeting, Maharashtra and West Bengal governments went ahead to announce that the states would remain locked down till April 30. Odisha and Punjab have already announced to extend the lockdown.

Meanwhile, the fatal virus has now claimed the lives of around 20,506 people in the US. The USA now leads the world in deaths and in the number of declared infections, as per the data by Johns Hopkins University.
