Iqbal Singh Chahal, the Mumbai municipal commissioner, has predicted that by 2050, a significant portion of South Mumbai, including the business hub of Nariman Point and the state headquarters Mantralaya, will be submerged due to rising sea levels.

Chahal claimed that 70 percent of the city’s A, B, C, and D wards in south Mumbai will be underwater owing to climate change, speaking at the unveiling of the Mumbai Climate Action Plan and its website by Maharashtra Environment and Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray on Friday.
