Witnesses and security officials say several rockets were fired at Kabul’s airport on Monday, less than 48 hours before the US is set to complete its army departure from Afghanistan. Before the morning rush hour began, AFP staff heard the sound of rockets exploding over the capital.
The missiles were fired from a car in north Kabul, according to a security official who worked in the administration deposed by the Taliban two weeks ago. In the north, where the Hamid Karzai International Airport is located, smoke could be seen rising above buildings.
