Remnants of Ram temple and the fragmentary statue of deities have been found during the levelling of Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya. 5 feet Shiva Linga, 7 pillars of black touchstone, 6 pillars of red sandstone and broken idols of gods and goddesses were also been discovered.
This work was done after 11th of May in Ayodhya for Ram Janmabhoomi temple on its main site and after that, these recoveries have been made. Earlier this month, the Yogi Adityanath government allowed construction activity to resume.
Reading the unanimous judgment on the Ayodhya title suit last year, CJI Ranjan Gogoi had referred to an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) report to observe that the Babri Masjid, which stood on the disputed site until its demolition in 1992, was not built on vacant land and that there was evidence of a ‘temple-like structure’ having existed on the land before.
“There is clear evidence that Hindus believe Lord Ram was born at the disputed site. Babri Masjid was not constructed on vacant land. There was a structure underlying the disputed structure. The underlying structure was not an Islamic structure,”
the bench had said.
