Afghanistan’s administration may request India’s military support in the future if negotiations with the Taliban fail and US soldiers leave the country, according to the nation’s Ambassador to India. He did, though, make it clear that the assistance requested would not include deploying troops, but rather might include things like training and technical assistance.
Members of the Taliban and the Afghan government have been conducting discussions in the midst of the militants’ growing grip over the nation, even as the US prepares to finish its nearly two-decade-long war in Afghanistan by the end of August.
