Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waje of the Mumbai Crime Branch has been shifted to the Civil Facilitation Center (CFC). The CFC is a unit of the city police. A top official gave this information.
On February 25, an explosive substance was found in a vehicle outside ‘Antilia’, a south Mumbai home of industrialist Mukesh Ambani. Hiren’s wife claimed that her husband gave Waje her car in November.
The car was returned by an officer posted at the Mumbai Crime Branch in the first week of February. Sachin Waje was removed from the Crime Intelligence Unit on Wednesday. An official said the CFC unit provides police consent for passports, various licenses and other public related services. Maharashtra ATS probing the case had recorded Waje’s statement earlier this week. Waje was suspended in 2004 in the case of alleged custodial death of Khwaja Younus.
The ATS reported that Waje had denied using Hiren’s Scorpio. At the same time, state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said on Wednesday that Waje has been removed from the Crime Intelligence Unit until the investigation into the death of automobile parts businessman Mansukh Hiren is completed.
