Mia Khalifa, a former adult film actor who has been facing criticism after supporting farmer demonstrations, said on Friday that she “still stands with the farmers.”
Several internationally popular artists, activists and politicians showed solidarity with the farmers after pop singer Rihanna’s tweet drawing attention to the farmers’ movement. Khalifa also tweeted in this regard.
The Foreign Ministry had condemned this, saying that some vested selfish groups were trying to impose their agenda on the demonstrations. There are some objections to the very small section of farmers in some parts of the country about agrarian reforms passed after full discussion in Parliament and facts should be examined before hurrying to comment on the protests.
Khalifa (27) shared pictures of a group of people protesting against him on Twitter. Some people are seen carrying placards in the picture, with slogans written against him, Rihanna and Sweden’s climate activist Greta Thunberg. Earlier, the Khalifa criticized the shutdown of internet services around the protest sites.
She tweeted, “Human rights is being violated.
