Snowfall on the mountains has increased the chill in the plains states.  In Delhi, the mercury has dropped to 4 degrees.  The Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast Delhi’s mercury to reach 4 degrees today i.e. on 16 December.  Heavy snowfall in the mountains is the main reason for the cold that is forming in Delhi-NCR and North India.
Actually, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are experiencing heavy snowfall.  According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the more snowfall and rain on the mountains, the colder the climate will increase.  According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature of Delhi can be 18 degree Celsius today (Wednesday).
Temperatures in Delhi may fall by up to 2 degrees
The Meteorological Department says that in two-three days, the temperature of North India can fall by three degrees Celsius.  According to the weather forecast, in the last week of December, Delhi’s temperature can go below 2 degrees.  Outbreak of cold will increase not only in Delhi but also in Punjab.  The mercury of North India can fall to 3-5 degree Celsius.

This snowfall of the mountains is shaking people living in the plains of North India.  According to the Meteorological Department, people in the plains of North India will have to be ready for the next two-three days of cold.  The temperature of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh may fall.  At the same time, there is a possibility of rain in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh including Mumbai.  Apart from this, heavy rainfall is expected in Puducherry, Kerala and Tamil Nadu on 17-18 December.

At the same time, the cold record can also be broken in Haryana, Chandigarh and North West Rajasthan.  Due to falling temperature, the effect of fog is seen in most parts of North India.  However, due to the running of cold winds, the air quality i.e. air quality (AQI) of Delhi-NCR and UP has improved.

Heavy snowfall on the mountains Uttarakhand, Himachal to Jammu and Kashmir are experiencing heavy snowfall these days.  White sheets of snow are lying in most places of these states.  Kedarnath Dham has received more than 4 feet of snowfall.  The 18 km walking route connecting Kedarnath Dham is also covered with snow.  While Uttarakhand is experiencing severe snowfall in Rudraprayag, Auli and Bageshwar, there is snow from Lahaul Spiti to Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
