Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has announced that the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will soon begin across 12 States and Union Territories.

Speaking on the process, Kumar stated that the voter lists of these regions will be frozen at midnight tonight, marking the official start of the next phase of revision. Every voter included in these lists will receive a Unique Enumeration Form, distributed by the Booth Level Officers (BLOs). These forms will contain all the details currently available in the official voter rolls.

Once the BLOs begin distributing the forms, existing voters will be asked to verify their details by cross-checking whether their names appear on the 2003 voter list. Kumar clarified that if a voter’s name is found on the 2003 list, no additional documents will be required. Similarly, if a voter’s parents’ names are listed from that period, they too are exempt from providing further documentation.

To make the verification process more transparent, the voter lists from 2002 to 2004 will be made publicly accessible on the Election Commission’s official website — [http://voters.eci.gov.in](http://voters.eci.gov.in) — allowing citizens to perform the matching themselves.
