SP Worker Attempts Self-Immolation Infront of Legislative Assembly, Lucknow

On Thursday afternoon in Lucknow, a 40-year-old man identified as a Samajwadi Party worker tried self-immolation just outside of the Lok Bhawan, just across the UP Vidhan Sabha, police said. The man, named Narendra Singh, is a resident of Kanpur. Prior to the incident, the individual was said to have yelled campaign slogans. The man’s member card for the Samajwadi Party was discovered by the police.

He doused himself with combustible substance and lit himself on fire, as per authorities. Civilian clothes officers on the scene arrived quickly and extinguished the flames.

SHO of Hazratganj police station Narendra Singh was carried to the civic hospital in a police van, according to Shyam Babu Shukla. He suffered minor burns to his neck, face, and forearms, but he is unharmed.
