Shane Warne, the great Australian cricket great, died on Friday (4 March 2022) at the age of 52. “Despite the attempts of medical professionals, Shane was found lifeless in his villa and could not be resuscitated,” Warne’s managers announced in a press release to Australian media site Fox Sports. Family privacy has been requested. It has been reported that Shane Warne died in Thailand.

Warne, who was designated one of Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Century, had a 15-year career with Australia, claiming 708 Test wickets and winning the World Cup in 1999. The devastating news comes just days after another Australian cricket legend, veteran wicketkeeper Rod Marsh, died of heart failure at the age of 74 earlier in the week.
