India’s month-long presidency of the UN Security Council ended with “substantive” accomplishments on important global concerns, including a robust resolution on the Afghan crisis. The resolution highlighted India’s concerns and asked that Afghan land not be used to threaten other countries or provide a haven for terrorists.
India, which is now serving a two-year term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, took over the rotating Presidency for August.
On the penultimate day of India’s Presidency of the Security Council for August, the Council adopted the first resolution on the situation in Afghanistan in the aftermath of the Taliban’s seizure of Kabul.
