To honor the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Sunday that 75 Vande Bharat trains will connect different areas of the country in 75 weeks.
Vande Bharat, India’s indigenous semi-high-speed rail system, is getting a boost, with the Railways planning to roll out at least 10 of them by August 2022 to honor the country’s 75th anniversary. Medha, a Hyderabad-based engineering firm that won the contract to supply the electrical equipment for 44 Vande Bharat trains in February, has now been urged to speed up its manufacturing schedule so that at least two prototypes may be put out by next March once all trials are completed.
