Mahabaleshwar experienced one of it’s wettest days due to extremely heavy rainfall on Wednesday. It rained for straight 24 hours resulting in a rainfall of 212 mm.

Mahabaleshwar is one the most rain receiving parts of Maharashtra, that receives 5530 mm rainfall.

Mahabaleshwar in June perennially experiences torrential rainfall. According to IMD’s data it recorded raianfall in 2015 (362mm), 2013 (290mm) and 2011 (204mm).

Due to delay and slow development in monsoon, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada has put farmers on wait mode before they can undertake kharif sowing.

Monsoon currents are active over Konkan and south Madhya Maharashtra regions following off-shore trough between Karnatakan and Kerala along with another trough running between central Arabian Sea and south Konkan.

On the other hand, light showers in Delhi abruptly changed the hot and dry weather. IMD officials have predicted that the southwest monsoon will be delayed seven to ten days, reported PTI.
