The Nagaland administration has agreed to prolong the state’s current lockdown till June 30, according to news agency PTI. While the limitations were set to expire on June 18, state officials opted not to relax the rules because the Covid-19 positive rate remains over 5%.
“In a conference, the high-powered committee on Covid-19, led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, agreed to prolong the lockdown until June 30,” state co-spokesperson and advisor Mmhonlumo Kikon stated on Wednesday.
“The state’s Covid position is easing, but we are still not out of the grave. The positive rate is falling, but it must fall below 5%. In addition, we need to immunize more than half of the population” he said.
