]]>A resolution passed at the party’s meeting in Chennai said that the ruling DMK must be removed and a prosperous new Tamil Nadu must be built.
It added that the party accepts Vijay as its chief ministerial candidate and will welcome into its alliance those who are ready to acknowledge his leadership.
The resolution also emphasised that Vijay has been fully empowered to make final decisions regarding alliances.Another resolution noted that a manifesto committee will be formed to design a roadmap aimed at safeguarding the people of Tamil Nadu and guiding the state toward meaningful change.

After the initial rejection, party general secretaries B Anand and Aadhav Arjuna met senior police officials on December 1, urging them to reconsider. Despite the appeal, officials maintained their stance, noting that a roadshow would not be advisable.
Puducherry DIG Sathya Sundaram stated that an open-ground public meeting had been recommended as a safer alternative and confirmed that permission for a roadshow was not supported.
The decision comes in the wake of heightened safety concerns after political events in Tamil Nadu were suspended. Vijay’s previous rallies were abruptly halted following a tragic stampede in Karur, which resulted in 41 fatalities and left more than 60 people injured.

]]>To facilitate the meeting, the party has arranged accommodations at a local resort, booking 50 rooms to allow Vijay to personally meet the bereaved families and offer his condolences. A bus service has also been arranged for the families to travel to the venue. One family member of the victims shared with the media in Karur, “Many of us are going, and we are grateful for the arrangements.”
The tragic incident occurred on September 27, during a TVK event where Vijay delivered a speech. The stampede claimed the lives of 41 people and left over 60 others injured.
The announcement of this meeting has sparked a debate on social media, with some criticizing the actor for organizing travel and accommodation for the families to meet him, instead of personally visiting Karur to offer his condolences. Critics argued that it would have been more appropriate for Vijay to visit the affected families in their hometown.
However, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam defended the decision, stating that the arrangement was made because Vijay had not received permission from local authorities to visit Karur.
One of the grieving family members, Perumal from Velusamypuram, who lost his two minor daughters in the stampede, expressed dissatisfaction with the plan. He told reporters, “It is not right for the families to travel to meet him. He should have visited us.”
At present, the injured victims are not expected to attend the meeting in Mahabalipuram.
