]]>Referring to the ugly scenes witnessed in the Rajya Sabha recently and indicating action against those involved, he reminded elected representatives of their responsibilities.
“….all elected public representatives should focus more on improving the standards of the life of the people, by rising to the need of the occasion,” Naidu said.
Addressing an event here, he said, “You might have seen some time back, what happened in the Parliament, a lot of youngsters called me and told me, Sir! you are the Vice President of India, why are you so sad? I said I’m sad because of the bad behaviour of some people, to the new low the Indian Parliament had gone.
Pointing to similar incidents at several state legislatures including Karnataka in the past, he further said, every legislator and public representative should keep in mind the need to raise the standards of the institution he or she is representing, and improve one’s contribution by caliber, character, capacity and conduct.
You are the role model for the people, if you behave like this then what is the inspiration the people and the youngsters will get?”
“Assemblies and parliament are meant for debate, discussion and decision. Debate, discuss and decide, but do not disrupt. Disrupting means you are disrupting the cause of the country. There may be some tension, but you must come back to attention,” he added.

The Academy will benefit from Kirkire”s unique experiences with Hindi language and culture, Sisodia said.
COVID-19 presented various challenges and tensions in the lives of many. In such a time, it becomes important to introduce arts and culture with renewed vigour and give citizens a platform enjoy Hindi art, culture and artistic expression. Covid has enabled us to think about the Hindi Academy in new, more novel ways,” the deputy chief minister said.
Sisodia directed members of the Academy to begin thinking about using novel approaches to organise art and culture events.

The former president was admitted to Army’s Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi Cantonment on August 10 and was operated the same day for removal of a clot in his brain. He was also tested positive for COVID-19 and later developed a lung infection. His condition declined on Monday morning after he suffered a septic shock due to his lung infection, the Hospital said.
Pranab Mukherjee will be laid to rest in New Delhi and not his hometown Birbhum in West Bengal. The government has announced seven-day state mourning on demise of former President Pranab Mukherjee

Harris, 55, is of both African and Indian descent, with her father being from Jamaica and mother Shyamala Gopalan from Tamil Nadu. In public addresses, Harris has regularly reflects on the deep influence that her mother had on her.
“When my mother arrived in the United States from India, she understood that the core of her new home in America is that we not only strive for success, but to leave our country better than we found it, she told the AAPI event.
“That’s the approach she instilled in me, and I know many of you are working toward that same end, she said.
In a short video release later in the day on the occasion of Women’s Equality Day, Harris said that her mother was the greatest source of inspiration in my life.
“She taught me from a young age that I had a responsibility to fight for justice. At the age of 19, she arrived in the United States from India alone and with the dream of curing cancer. She was a woman who believed in solving problems, Harris said.
“In fact, she always used to say, ‘if you see a problem, don’t just sit around complaining about it, do something about it’,” she said.
“On the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, it’s more important than ever that we keep up the fight at the ballot box to honor the women who came before us,” she asserted.
The 19th amendment to the US Constitution granted women the right to vote.
In another tweet along with a video, Harris said that as a young girl, her grandfather would often take her on his morning walks in India, where he’d discuss the importance of fighting for democracy and civil rights.
