<p>Rescue efforts for the Kharg lasted many hours, with the whole crew departing. However, all attempts to salvage the ship were futile, and it sunk. Iran announced in April that one of its ships, the Saviz, had been targeted in the Red Sea, following media allegations that the ship had been struck with limpet mines.</p>
