]]>Police have confirmed that four people died after consuming spurious liquor and said investigation is on to ascertain the reason behind the death of six others.
“Nine police personnel, including three SHOs and six constables, have been suspended over the incident. We have also sent a recommendation for action against the guilty excise officers and the policemen to the government,” Additional Director General of Police, Agra, Rajeev Krishna said.
He said, “Reports from Forensic Science Laboratory confirmed the presence of methyl alcohol in four viscera samples sent for testing”.
Thus the four men died after consuming spurious liquor, he added.
Ten people died in Agra in the past four days after consuming spurious liquor, family members have said.
Four deaths were reported in Deoria Village and two deaths in Garhi Jahan village in the Shamsabad area of the district.
The three Station House Officers (SHOs) against whom the action was taken are from Taj Ganj, Shamsabad and Dauki areas, police said.

]]>Both Japan and Moderna said that no safety or efficacy issues had been identified and that the suspension was just a precaution. But the move prompted several Japanese companies to cancel worker vaccinations planned for Thursday.
“Moderna confirms having been notified of cases of particulate matter being seen in drug product vials of its Covid-19 vaccine,” Moderna said in a statement.
“The company is investigating the reports and remains committed to working expeditiously with its partner, Takeda, and regulators to address this,” it added, referring to Japan’s Takeda Pharmaceutical, which distributes the vaccine in the country.
A Health ministry official said Takeda first found out about the contaminated vials on Aug. 16 and reported the issue to the government on Wednesday. The delay was because Takeda needed time to gather information on which vials were affected and where they were in the country, the official said.
Moderna said the contamination could be due to a manufacturing issue in one of the production lines at its contract manufacturing site in Spain.
Spanish pharma company Rovi, which bottles or “fills and finishes” Moderna vaccines for markets other than the United States, said it is investigating possible contamination of Moderna doses and the issue appeared to be limited to a few batches bound for Japan.

]]>Sky News Australia acknowledges YouTube’s right to enforce its policies and looks forward to continuing to publish its popular news and analysis content to its subscribers shortly,” Sky News said in a statement on its website about the one-week suspension.
The 24-hour cable and television channel, which claims to have 1.85 million YouTube subscribers, is operated by Australian News Channel Pty Ltd and is a subsidiary of News Corp Australia. YouTube, owned by Alphabet Inc’s Google, confirmed the suspension.

Australian media reported that the one-week suspension was issued on Thursday and came after a review of Sky News Australia’s content that allegedly denied the existence of Covid-19 or encouraged people to use hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin to treat the coronavirus, without providing countervailing context.

]]>Mr. Sen’s suspension comes a day after he snatched and tore the statement on Pegasus which the Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw was reading.
The motion seeking his suspension was moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V. Muralidharan and passed by voice vote.
The Opposition parties protested against the move, saying they were not given an opportunity to respond.
TMC members Derek O’Brien and Sukendu Sekhar Roy wanted the member concerned given an opportunity to speak. Mr. O’Brien said that after the House was adjourned on Thursday, Mr. Sen was roughed up. “We saw boorish behaviour and hooliganism in this House,” he added.
In response, Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu said this issue was not brought to his notice.
Congress Chief Whip Jairam Ramesh asked Mr. Naidu to allow for a clarification on the statement made by Mr. Vaishnaw.
