The intruders shot Bindroo, 68, at point-blank range while he was dispensing drugs at his pharmacy, according to a police official. He was airlifted to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Bindroo, a Kashmir Pandit, was one of the few members of his community who did not flee Kashmir after the militancy began in 1990. He and his wife stayed behind to continue running their pharmacy, Bindroo Medicate.

]]>Over 300 vehicles were stranded at several places on the highway, the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.
The men and machines of the National Highway Authority of India and Border Roads Organisation have started clearance of the landslides to restore the traffic on the highway, they said.
However, the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh road, which connects UTs of J-K and Ladakh, is open for traffic.
The Mughal road, connecting Shopian district of Kashmir valley with Poonch district of Jammu region, is through for vehicles carrying essentials, mostly trucks and oil tankers, they said.
The traffic on inter-district Kishtwar-Paddar road has been restored on Monday after clearance of landslides, which blocked the road 3 days ago, they said.

]]>One soldier, who was critically injured in the encounter, succumbed to his injuries, according to a Public Relations Officer of Defence, Srinagar.
The encounter between security forces and terrorists broke out at 1 am on Saturday.
Incrimination materials including arms and ammunition have been seized from the encounter site and the search operation is underway.
‘Pulwama encounter — Update: 03 unidentified terrorists killed. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition seized. Search going on. Further details shall follow,’ the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
‘Op Zadoora, Pulwama. Update. Three terrorists eliminated. One AK and two Pistols recovered. One soldier was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries. Joint operation in progress,’ Chinar Corps, Indian Army tweeted.
On Friday, two unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kiloora area of Shopian district, police said.

They said, security forces launched a search operation in an orchard in Kamrazipora village of Pulwama in the early hours of the day after receiving information about the presence of terrorists there. The officials said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire, injuring two soldiers.
The injured security personnel were rushed to an Army hospital, where one of them passed away. One terrorist was also killed in the gunfight, the officials said, adding that an AK rifle and a few grenades were recovered from the encounter site.
The identity and affiliation of the slain militant are being ascertained, they added.
