According to the latest reports, schools in Kallakurichi, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruchirapalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Namakkal, Pudukkotai, and Dindigul have declared holidays, while schools and colleges in Tiruvannamalai, Thanjavur, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Salem, Karur, Tiruppathur, and Siva.</p>

Many parts of the national capital were waterlogged which resulted in traffic across the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for the national capital owing to the heavy downpour.</p>
<p>The city gauged 112.1 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours, which is the highest in at least 12 years, IMD officials said. In 2010, the capital had recorded 110 mm rainfall on September 20</p>
<p>Delhi has been receiving rainfall <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/delhi-news/delhi-weather-heavy-rain-in-delhi-brings-respite-from-heat-2524584" target="_self" rel="noopener">since yesterday morning. </a>Earlier, IMD had predicted that thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall would take place in part of Delhi-NCR.</p>
<p>&#8220;Thunderstorms with moderate to heavy intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places of Delhi, NCR- Gurugram, Manesar, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Tosham, Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Narnaul, Mahendargarh, Kosali during next 2 hours,&#8221; tweeted IMD.</p>

No casualties have been reported till now but transport has been badly hit in several parts of the city and even the state</p>
<p>Rescue and deep diving teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have reached the site. Rescue and relief operation are on, the news agency&#8217;s report said.</p>
<p>District Magistrate R Rajesh Kumar says traffic on the route has been halted.</p>
<p>In another incident, parts of the Maldevta-Sahastradhara Link Road caved in and merged with a river following incessant rainfall in Dehradun, ANI reported.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, National Highway 58 was closed from Tapovan to Maletha due to heavy rainfall in the area, the Tehri-Garhwal district authorities have said, according to the news agency.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The suburban trains on the Central Railway’s main line as well as the Harbour line are running 20 to 25 minutes behind their schedule, an official said. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Local train services are currently running only for personnel engaged in health and other essential services, and are out of bound for general commuters in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">An official of the Central Railway said that due to water-logging on tracks near kurla station in eastern Mumbai, suburban services on the main line and the Harbour line have been affected since morning.  </span></p>
