Only those who are fully vaccinated against coronavirus or have a negative RT-PCR test report will be allowed to enter Punjab from Monday, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said today. People coming from neighbouring Himachal Pradesh and Jammu will be strictly monitored.

In schools and colleges in Punjab, only fully vaccinated teaching and non-teaching staff, or those recently recovered from COVID-19, can physically be present to teach even as online classes remain an option for students.

Mr Singh also wants teachers and non-teaching staff to be prioritised for vaccination, with special camps. The state’s Health Minister, meanwhile, pitched reducing the gap between the two doses to prioritise the second dose for teachers and other school staff.

Punjab on Friday reported 88 Covid cases and no deaths. The state’s total case tally is nearly six lakh.

Fulfilling a pre-poll promise of the Congress party, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Friday declared Malerkotla as the 23rd district of the state on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Amarinder was addressing the people of the state virtually on the occasion of Eid. Having Malerkotla declared as an independent district was a long pending demand of the Muslim community and residents of the town. The town has a predominant Muslim population.

The government had, in 2017, promised to declare Malerkotla a district. Then cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Razia Sultana had addressed an Eid function in 2017 in Malerkotla and stated that it would soon be a district.

Earlier, Malerkotla was a part of Sangrur district and residents had to come to Sangrur to get government-related work done.

Amarinder also announced that a medical college, at the cost of Rs 500 crore, named after Sher Mohammad Khan, would be set up in the district.

The Modi government at the Center has written a letter to the Punjab government asking to investigate the complaints of BSF of bonding laborers of Bihar and UP in the state and giving them drugs for long-term work.
According to the English newspaper The Indian Express, the Ministry of Home Affairs wrote a letter to the Punjab Chief Secretary and the Chief of Police on March 17 stating that in 2019-20, BSF had caught 58 such workers in the districts along the international border of Punjab.
It is noteworthy that the farmers of Punjab are protesting against the three agricultural laws of the Center on the borders of Delhi.  After this letter came to the fore, the leaders of farmers organizations have criticized it a lot.
Jagmohan Singh, general secretary of BKU Dakonda and member of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee, has accused the central government of ‘tarnishing the image of farmers’.
A Punjab Police officer has confirmed the things written in the letter to the newspaper on the condition of anonymity, but he says that the results of this investigation are ‘unrealistic’.The letter written by the Center states, “Inquiries from workers found from the border areas like Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Ferozepur and Abohar revealed that either of them were mentally incapacitated or were in weak condition to be given bonded labor.  Those arrested were from poor families in far-flung areas of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. “
Referring to human trafficking in the letter, it is said that they are brought from their homes in the name of good salaries and bonded labor is done here.  They are given drugs to work in the fields for a long time, which causes them physical and mental harm.
Jagmohan Singh says that the central government is now playing another communal card after calling us ‘Khalistani and terrorists’.  Why is the survey conducted in BSF 2019-20 now being sent to the Punjab government when the performance of farmers is at its peak?
Delhi University teacher G.N., who was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Maharashtra court in the year 2017 for ties with Maoist organizations.  Saibaba has been expelled from Ramlal Anand College.
According to the English newspaper Hindustan Times, Delhi University officials say that the decision has been taken according to the rules.
In a note sent to Saibaba’s family on Thursday, the college principal Rajesh Gupta wrote, “The services of Assistant Professor GN Saibaba at Ramlal Anand College are being terminated on 31 March 2021. Three months’ salary is paid in his savings bank account.  Has been done.”
Saibaba’s wife Vasantha Kumari has confirmed the receipt of the letter and also said that it did not state the reason for his expulsion from the college.
University of Delhi Dean of College Balaram Pani said that the governing body of the college has decided according to the rules already in place.

Corona Vaccination: Walk-in registrations more than double as compared to online
The English newspaper The Times of India says that the number of walk-in registrations has been much higher than the online registration for the Corona virus vaccination across the country.
According to the newspaper report, 7 crore registrations for vaccination were done in the country till 9 pm on Friday night, out of which 1 crore went online while 3.75 crore people went to the vaccination center and got vaccinated.
Apart from this, there are 23 million health and frontline workers whose information is already available in the Co-Win software.
At the same time, 22 lakh registrations were done till 9 pm on Friday only.

CBSE will not reduce syllabus for 2021-22 academic session
According to the new syllabus, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided not to reduce the syllabus for students from class 9 to 12 in the 2021-22 academic session.
The Economic Times newspaper says that CBSE had reduced the syllabus from ninth grade to 12th grade by 30% in the 2020-21 session due to the Kovid-19 crisis.
Students who have read this reduced syllabus will appear in the examinations to be held in May-June.
The new syllabus released by CBSE also includes the chapters and topics which were removed in the last academic session.
A CBSE official says that the board had announced last year that they were reducing syllabus only for one time as online medium or study through different mediums was a very new thing.
