]]>Shivam Gupta, a resident of Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi, had gone to Connaught Place with a friend on the night of January 2 to attend a party. According to police sources, after stepping out of a restaurant near E Block, close to Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, Gupta asked a food delivery agent for water. What began as a verbal exchange soon escalated into violence.
Investigators said the delivery agent allegedly struck Gupta on the head with a helmet, while two other associates joined in, punching and kicking him repeatedly. Gupta collapsed on the road and lost consciousness.
A Police Control Room call received around 1.30 am on January 3 alerted officers about an injured man lying unconscious and bleeding on the road. Gupta was rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, where doctors detected multiple hematomas and declared him unfit to record a statement due to the severity of his injuries.
His father, Anil Kant Gupta, later told the media that his son had left home on the evening of January 2 but never returned. After repeated unanswered calls, the family was informed by the police that Shivam had been admitted to hospital.
The elder Gupta said his son’s condition was critical when the family reached the hospital, adding that Shivam was vomiting blood and was unresponsive. Doctors advised transferring him for specialised treatment, following which he was shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on January 4 and underwent surgery the next day.
Doctors informed the family that the injuries were life-threatening and that the following 36 to 72 hours would be crucial. According to his father, Shivam showed brief signs of recovery and responded when doctors spoke to him, raising hopes of survival. However, he succumbed to his injuries on January 19.
Shivam was the only child of his parents and the sole support of the family. His father, who owns two shops in the Paharganj area, said the loss has left them devastated.
As part of the investigation, police inspected the scene near the parking area, conducted videography and photography, and seized blood-stained material for forensic examination. CCTV footage from nearby cameras was also reviewed. According to the family, the footage showed Shivam lying on the ground while his friend stood nearby.
Police sources said an FIR was initially registered under Section 110, relating to culpable homicide, and Section 3(5), relating to common intention, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Two men have been apprehended so far, and further investigation is underway to determine the involvement of all those present during the incident. Additional legal sections may be added as the probe progresses.
Family members have demanded strict action against those responsible, saying the use of a helmet as a weapon cost Shivam his life and that no other family should suffer a similar loss.

According to jail administration sources, the prisoners were lodged in a high-security barrack. During the night, they allegedly removed two to three bricks from a wall near the ration storage area, creating an opening large enough to exit the barrack. After reaching the outer section, they reportedly used a blanket to fashion a rope and climbed over the main boundary wall, which is around twenty feet high. Investigators also found a bamboo pole measuring approximately twenty five feet near the wall, suggesting it was used to assist in the escape.
The prisoners are residents of Sultanpur and Amethi districts and had been in jail for several months in cases related to theft and violations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Officials believe the escape was not spontaneous and may have been planned over several days.
Evidence found during the investigation indicates that the prisoners used nearby peepal and tamarind trees as cover and support while fleeing the jail premises. Authorities are examining how the inmates managed to collect tools, bamboo, and iron rods without raising suspicion, pointing to possible internal negligence or assistance.
Following the incident, the senior jail superintendent, jailer, deputy jailer, head warder, and several warders have been suspended with immediate effect. A departmental inquiry has been ordered to determine responsibility for the lapse. Police have registered a case and multiple teams are conducting raids in nearby districts to apprehend the fugitives.
Jail administration officials stated that further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry, while security arrangements at the jail have been tightened to prevent any recurrence.

]]>The robbery took place at around 2 pm when five to six assailants, wearing face masks, arrived at the bank on motorcycles and entered the premises posing as customers. Shortly after entering, they pulled out firearms and threatened bank employees and customers, triggering panic inside the branch.
Police said the attackers damaged the CCTV cameras installed inside the bank to erase evidence. They then confined those present in the branch before escaping with the cash and gold at around 2.15 pm.
As per the preliminary investigation, the robbers made away with approximately Rs 4 lakh in cash and gold weighing about 3.7 kilograms.
A detailed probe has been launched to identify and arrest the accused, and police teams are examining nearby areas and available evidence to trace the miscreants.

The injured student, Kanishka, is a Class 12 science student from Bhagat Singh Colony who is preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination. According to officials, Kanishka is currently under treatment at a hospital in Sector 8 and her condition is stable.
CCTV Footage Reveals the Attack
Security footage from the area shows the suspect waiting for Kanishka before shooting at her from close range. One bullet struck her shoulder while the other grazed her abdomen. The police have formed four teams to track down the accused and bring him into custody.
Ongoing Harassment Allegations
Investigations revealed that Mangla had been following and harassing Kanishka for several months. Her family mentioned that just two days before the shooting, Mangla had visited them to apologise for his behaviour. Both the victim and the accused were members of the same library, where they studied for their exams.
Library Connection and Background
According to the library management, Kanishka had been a member for a year, while Mangla joined around six months ago. Mangla was employed as an accountant at a nearby private college. The police stated that within two weeks of his joining, both memberships were cancelled due to inappropriate behaviour. Kanishka later re-enrolled, but Mangla was not allowed back. Despite this, he continued to follow her.
Police Investigation Underway
Inspector Shamsher Singh from Ballabhgarh City Police Station confirmed that multiple police and crime branch teams are conducting raids to arrest the suspect. Authorities have assured that every possible effort is being made to ensure justice for the victim.

Meanwhile, Gyanendra Singh Chauhan, All-India Vice President of the Karni Sena, lodged a police complaint regarding the incident. He criticized the local police for their handling of the situation, accusing them of negligence. Chauhan claimed that instead of taking action against the culprits, the police had initially detained the villager who reported the graffiti. He further alleged that police personnel had attempted to remove the slogans from the temple walls to calm tensions.

]]>Shockingly, local residents reportedly witnessed the man in distress but failed to notify the police or offer help in time. Authorities from Sector 8 Police Station have now taken custody of the body and initiated a formal investigation into the incident.
According to police officials, the deceased was identified as Anuj, a native of Bulandshahr. He was reportedly employed in installing UPI-based company codes for businesses. Anuj is said to have left Bulandshahr on Thursday evening, headed for Faridabad.
Sector 8 police outpost in-charge, Pradeep Kumar, stated that around 5 a.m. on Friday, a call was received reporting an unconscious man lying in the park at Sihi village. A police team rushed to the scene and found Anuj’s lifeless body.
Upon questioning nearby residents, police learned that the man had arrived at the park on his bike early that morning. Witnesses claimed he appeared to be in severe pain, wandering around the park before collapsing.
Pradeep Kumar further confirmed that there were visible injury marks on both of Anuj’s shoulders, along with a head injury, suggesting the possibility of assault or an accident.
Authorities are awaiting postmortem results to determine the exact cause of death, while the investigation continues to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the case.

]]>Before taking his life, Sandeep Kumar recorded a six-minute video and left behind a four-page suicide note accusing IG Poonan Kumar of corruption and abuse of power.
According to police sources, the ASI’s body was found in a tube well room located in the fields near Lavit village in Rohtak. “Sandeep was known to be an honest and hardworking officer,” said SP S. M. Bhoria, adding that it is too early to comment on the contents of the video and note.
Sandeep was posted in the Cyber Cell and had played a key role in the arrest of Sushil Kumar, the gunman of IG Poonan, on corruption charges. A liquor contractor had accused Sushil of demanding ₹2.5 lakh per month in the officer’s name. The following day, on October 7, IG Poonan reportedly shot himself at his residence in Chandigarh.
In his suicide note, Poonan had accused DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor and SP Narendra Bijarnia, along with 12 other officers, of caste discrimination and workplace harassment. Following this, the Haryana government sent DGP Kapoor on leave, and SP Bijarnia was transferred.
Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) approached court seeking permission for IG Poonan’s post-mortem, which has been delayed for eight days due to the family’s refusal. The court has issued a notice to Poonan’s wife, IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, directing her to respond by Wednesday. The court stated that if no reply is received, it will decide the matter on merit.

He further alleged that IG Poonan discriminated among employees based on caste and replaced honest staff with corrupt associates who extorted money from others. “They created such an environment that anyone visiting the office was asked for money by Poonan’s gunman,” Sandeep claimed.
The ASI also alleged that Poonan’s family was involved in corruption and that his wife feared exposure. He called for a thorough investigation into the alleged bribery network.

]]>Majumdar, who met the survivor at the hospital the day after the incident, described the young woman as physically weak and emotionally shattered, still undergoing medical treatment at the time. “Her bleeding had stopped, but she was extremely fragile, and unable to process the trauma she had endured,” Majumdar stated.
She confirmed that the NCW team had immediately reached the city, met the survivor, and recorded her statement. According to the survivor, she was accompanied by a friend when they were approached by a group of individuals. “Three of them led her into a wooded area. One assaulted her, two others molested her, and two more took her mobile phone and ₹200 and never returned them,” Majumdar detailed.
She further questioned the accuracy of the police’s actions, citing a discrepancy in the number of suspects. “The girl’s statement does not mention six individuals, yet six people have been arrested,” she said, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparent investigation.
Majumdar also expressed concern over forensic negligence, stating that the crime scene was not initially examined thoroughly. “Whether due to ignorance or deliberate delay, this is a serious lapse,” she said, stressing that the commission has documented photos, videos, and the survivor’s testimony.
Importantly, she addressed reports linking the accused to political affiliations. “If law enforcement is acting under political pressure, the NCW will not stay silent. We are determined to ensure that this doesn’t become another R.G. Kar incident,” Majumdar warned.
She concluded with a direct appeal to the state leadership: “Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee must take responsibility for ensuring the safety of girls in West Bengal. They deserve protection.”
Meanwhile, the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate confirmed that a sixth person—the survivor’s friend—was taken into custody for questioning, marking a significant turn in the case. Police Commissioner Sunil Kumar Choudhary had earlier confirmed that five suspects, whose presence at the crime scene was verified, had already been arrested.
