The State Department of Health reported that following verification of all districts, almost 72 percent more were added. It did not disclose when these extra fatalities occurred in 38 districts.

]]>The 28-year-old actress is accused of abetting Rajput’s suicide. Her brother Showik Chakraborty was also called by the CBI for the fourth day in a row for questioning in the case, the official said.
Rhea Chakraborty and her brother reached the DRDO guest house at Kalina in Santacruz, where the probe team is stationed, around 10.30 am, he said. A Mumbai Police vehicle escorted the car in which the two arrived at the guest house, he said. Rajput’s manager Samual Miranda and domestic help Keshav also reached the guest house in the morning.
Earlier, Rhea Chakraborty was questioned for nearly 10 hours on Friday and allowed to return home under police escort as a large number of media personnel were present outside her building. She was quizzed for around seven hours on Saturday. Her brother is being questioned by the CBI since Thursday.
On Saturday, the CBI also questioned Rajput’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani, cook Neeraj Singh and accountant Rajat Mewati at the guest house. Rajput (34) was found hanging in his flat in suburban Bandra on June 14.
Rhea Chakraborty had been earlier questioned by the Mumbai Police in the case. The Enforcement Directorate has also quizzed her in a related money laundering case.
The Supreme Court last week upheld the transfer of an FIR, lodged by Rajput’s father in Patna against the actress and others for allegedly abetting his son’s suicide and misappropriating his money, to the CBI.

]]>“A meeting of CBI officers, who arrived from Delhi yesterday, is underway at airforce transit facility in Santacruz, Mumbai”, sources said.
On August 19, while holding that the FIR registered in Patna over the death of Bollywood actor was legitimate, the Supreme Court directed the CBI to investigate the case.
The single-judge bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy also said the Bihar Government was competent to recommend transferring the case to the CBI.
The apex court also asked the Mumbai Police to hand over all the evidence collected so far in the case to the CBI. The State of Maharashtra refused the option to challenge the order, Justice Roy said.
The CBI has registered an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and others in connection with the actor’s death after the Centre accepted Bihar Government’s recommendation to transfer the probe in the matter from Patna.
An FIR was registered in Patna on a complaint filed by KK Singh, Rajput’s father, under sections related to abetment to suicide. Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14.

In his column in the Shiv Sena’s paper, Saamna, Raut claimed that the actor didn’t share good relations with his father K K Singh. I have received such information. How many times did Rajput visit his father in Patna in the last few years? he asked.
Raut also said that Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey was working for a political party and allegedly tried to contest an election on a BJP ticket. “What can you expect from such a police force?”‘ he asked.
The Rajput family’s lawyer says, “Siddharth Pithani is extremely dubious. He is a very intelligent criminal. What he did was, until FIR was registered by family he was talking to them regularly and trying to help them. The moment FIR was registered, he started helping Rhea.”
“The way he has behaved after registration of FIR, the way he is writing email to Rhea when she’s a named accused. Helping a named accused in this manner shows complicity between Rhea and him. It is only upon custodial interrogation that the real truth will come out.”
Pithani was a friend of Rajput’s.
